            ਰੂਆਲ ਛੰਦ ॥ ਤ੍ਵਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

Name of Chhand; Through Your Kirpa
ਆਦਿ ਰੂਪ ਅਨਾਦਿ¹ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੋਨਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
Aadh[i] Roop Anaa[dh[i] Moorath[i] Ajon[i] Purakh Apaar
(Your) Saroop existed before everything else (came to be), 
(Your) Existence is without a beginning, free from birth, Perfect/Complete, 
(You are) free from having a crossable/reachable limit
¹ That who has no beginning/starting point
ਸਰਬ ਮਾਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਮਾਨ ਦੇਵ ਅਭੇਵ ਆਦਿ ਉਦਾਰ ॥
Sarab Maan Thrimaan Dhaev Abhaev Aadh[i] Oudhaar
(Worth) [being referred to] as the Greatest of All, 
[The One] who has Greatness in all 3 tenses [Past, Present, Future],
The Form of Radiance, Without Division/Secret/Mystery, 
[You are] The Giver of the Origin (Cause)
ਸਰਬ ਪਾਲਕ ਸਰਬ ਘਾਲਕ² ਸਰਬ ਕੋ ਪੁਨਿ ਕਾਲ ॥
Sarab Paalak Sarab Ghaalak Sarab Ko Pun[i] Kaal
[The One] who nourishes/raises everyone, 
[The One] who kills everyone 
and then [You are the One] who makes everyone face death again
² Ghaalnaa, also refers to “Doing [*might be a different definition of Karnae*]; Ghaalak can also refer to [Vaheguru being the] Original Doer 
ਜੱਤ੍ਰ ਤੱਤ੍ਰ³ ਬਿਰਾਜਹੀ ਅਵਧੂਤ ਰੂਪ ਰਿਸਾਲ⁴ ॥੭੯॥
Jathr Thathr Biraajahee Avdhhooth Roop Risaal
[You] (are) present here and there, 
(You are) the form of detachment 
(yet) Filled with Taste/Ras 
³ Every place
⁴ Meaning: from one angle, You are detached from all tastes/experiences... from another angle, You are the enjoyer
ਨਾਮ ਠਾਮ ਨ ਜਾਤ ਜਾਕਰ ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗ ਨ ਰੇਖ ॥
Naam Ttaam n Jaath Jaakar Roop Ra[n]g n Raekh
[The One] (who) does not have a name, place, category/classificaton, 
form, colour, nor a sign/symbol/icon
ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਉਦਾਰ¹ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੋਨਿ ਆਦਿ ਅਸੇਖ ॥
Aadh[i] Purakh Oudhaar Moorath[i] Ajon[i] Aadh[i] Asaekh
The First Being (out of everyone), The Saviour Saroop (belongs to [You]),
free from birth, The Origin ([You] are the Cause), 
(and are) Completely Perfect  
¹ Ree = Gathee [Spiritual State]+Outh[High/Afterlife], Oupsarag = The One who’s Spiritual State is far/away from everyone/everything
ਦੇਸ ਔਰ ਨ ਭੇਸ ਜਾਕਰ ਰੂਪ ਰੇਖ ਨ ਰਾਗ ॥
Dhaes Aur n Bhaes Jaakar Roop Raekh n Raag
[The One] who does not have a place, 
attire/look/uniform/robe, face/sign/icon/symbol, nor desires 
ਜੱਤ੍ਰ ਤੱਤ੍ਰ ਦਿਸਾ ਵਿਸਾ ਹੁਇ ਫੈਲਿਓ ਅਨੁਰਾਗ² ॥੮੦॥
Jathr Thathr Dhisaa Visaa Hue[i] Phailio Anuraag
Spreading in the Form of Love... here, there, and everywhere
² Meaning: Being the Form of Love, [You] are pervading everywhere
ਨਾਮ ਕਾਮ ਬਿਹੀਨ ਪੇਖਤ ਧਾਮ ਹੂੰ ਨਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ¹ ॥ 
Naam Kaam Biheen Paekhath Dhhaam Hoo[n] nah[i] Jaah[i]
Seen [as being] without name [nor] desire 
(and) that who does not have a home 
¹ Meaning; Omnipresent
ਸਰਬ ਮਾਨ ਸਰਬੱਤ੍ਰ ਮਾਨ ਸਦੈਵ ਮਾਨਤ ਤਾਹਿ² ॥
Sarab Maan Sarbathr Maan Sadhaiv Maanath Thaah[i]
All the (People/Realms) accept/believe in You, 
[beings] of all places... they accept/believe in You
and who has always been accepted/believed in
² Everyone!
ਏਕ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਨੇਕ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀਨ ਰੂਪ ਅਨੇਕ³ ॥
Aek Moorath[i] Anaek Dharsan Keen Anaek
[Your] Form is One (but You're) seen as many/various
(Because of Your [multiple]) forms [You come in], 
You are known as uncountable
³ In Reality is One, taking on the Form of many/various we get to see You in many different ways
ਖੇਲ ਖੇਲ ਅਖੇਲ ਖੇਲਨ ਅੰਤ ਕੋ ਫਿਰ ਏਕ⁴ ॥੮੧॥
Khael Khael Akhael Khaelan A[n]th Ko Phir Aek
(Witnessing multiple different forms), [You] play games, 
meaning: [You] play the Unplayable Game at the End 
[of Manifestation/Existence] and become [solely] One again.
⁴ The Multiple forms in which you play the game, this game is the ‘Khael/game” mentioned here. You are only One but within this Oneness, You created the game of creation, sustaining, destroying... This is the Unplayable Game.
ਦੇਵ ਭੇਵ ਨ ਜਾਨਹੀ ਜਿਹ ਬੇਦ ਅਉਰ ਕਤੇਬ¹ ॥ 
Dhaev Bhaev n Jaanahee Jih Baedh Aour Kathaeb
The Devtey/Angels don’t know of [Your] Mystery/Secret 
(nor) do the Vedas or the other granths
¹ The Granths of other traditions usually are referred to as Kathaeb
ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗ ਨ ਜਾਤਿ ਪਾਤਿ ਸੁ ਜਾਨਈ ਕਿਹ ਜੇਬ² ॥
Roop Ra[n]g n Jaath[i] Paath[i] Su Jaanaee Kih Jaeb
(Who) does not have a form, colour, caste/family, 
through which way can we know about [You]?
² In Farsi, Zaeb = Glory, also meaning vidhi [style/way]
ਤਾਤ ਮਾਤ ਨ ਜਾਤ ਜਾਕਰ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਬਿਹੀਨ ॥
Thaath Maath n Jaath Jaakar Janam Maran Biheen
[The One] who does not have a Father, Mother, Family Name,
and free from birth and death  
ਚੱਕ੍ਰ ਬੱਕ੍ਰ³ ਫਿਰੈ ਚੱਤ੍ਰ ਚੱਕ ਮਾਨਹੀ ਪੁਰ ਤੀਨ ॥੮੨॥ 
Chakr Bakr Phirai Chathr Chak Maanahee Pur Theen
[The One] who is maneuvering through [Their] Unturnable turn within all four directions and that who is accepted/believed in within the 3 realms
³ Vakr = tilted/sideways, beautiful; that Destination which no one can turn, having gone in cycles is seen accepted Hukam to get to the Destination [Karmic cycles]
ਲੋਕ ਚਉਦਹ ਕੇ ਬਿਖੈ ਜਗ ਜਾਪਈ ਜਿਹ ਜਾਪ ॥
Lok Choudhah Kae Bikhai Jag Jaapaee Jih Jaap
The way that the 14 Lok (All of the Ever-changing Universe) 
looks as part of the entire Manifestation, 
the Jaap/Chanting of [You] amidst this 
[larger picture/macro-perspective] 
ਆਦਿ ਦੇਵ¹ ਅਨਾਦਿ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਥਾਪਿਓ ਸਭੈ ਜਿਹ ਥਾਪਿ ॥ 
Aadh[i] Dhaev Anaadh[i] Moorath[i] Thhapio Sabhai Jih Thhaap[i]
The Original Being Worthy of Worship, 
(whose) existence is free from a beginning 
(and) has Manifested all of Manifestation
¹ The Initial Cause
ਪਰਮ ਰੂਪ² ਪੁਨੀਤ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਪਾਰ³ ॥
Param Roop Puneeth Moorath[i] Pooran Purakh Apaar
[You] are the Complete/Perfect Form, Pure,
(and) whose Form (is Fully Immersed, Pervading and Endless)
² Param Roop refers to Param Purakh, ie Paramaatma
³ That who has no limit/crossable point
ਸਰਬ ਬਿਸ੍ਵ ਰਚਿਓ ਸੁਯੰਭਵ³ ਗੜਨ ਭੰਜਨਹਾਰ ॥੮੩॥
Sarab Bisw Rachio Suya[m]bhav Garrhan Bha[n]janhaar 
[The One] who manifested all of the Universe 
(Yourself is) the Sleeping Radiance 
(But Their Manifestation) was Created and Destroyed
Through Their Own Powers
⁴ No one manifested Parameshwar
ਕਾਲ ਹੀਨ ਕਲਾ ਸੰਜੁਗਤਿ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਦੇਸ¹ ॥
Kaal Heen Kalaa Sa[n]jugath[i] Akaal Purakh Adhaes
[You are] free from Time/Death, The Wielder of All Powers, 
free from death, all-pervading and free from difference of countries
¹or, Aadesh = Namaskaar to [You]
ਧਰਮ ਧਾਮ² ਸੁ ਭਰਮ ਰਹਤ ਅਭੂਤ³ ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਸ ॥
Dhharam Dhhaam Su Bharam Rahath Abhooth Alakh Abhaes
The Home of Dharam, Empty of Doubt/Illusion, free from body, 
far from understanding and free from form
² The Support of Dharam from which Dharam is kept in balance
³ or: no one is like [Them]
ਅੰਗ ਰਾਗ⁴ ਨ ਰੰਗ ਜਾਕਹ ਜਾਤਿ ਪਾਤਿ ਨ ਨਾਮ ॥
A[n]g Raag n Ra[n]g Jaakah Jaath[i] Paath[i] n Naam
That who does not have a body, quality, colour, birth, death, or name
⁴ Raag = Rajo Gun; meaning: does not have body, rajo gun etc and form; Kasthuri among other Fragrances are also called A[n]g-Raag
ਗਰਬ ਗੰਜਨ ਦੁਸਟ ਭੰਜਨ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦਾਇਕ ਕਾਮ ॥੮੪॥
Garab Ga[n]jan Dhusat Bha[n]jan Mukath[i] Dhaaeik Kaam
Breaker of the ego (and) Destroyer of Sinners, 
and whose role it is to give Kalyaan etc [Liberation/Salvation/Transcendence/Bliss]
ਆਪ ਰੂਪ¹ ਅਮੀਕ ਅਨ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਏਕ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਵਧੂਤ² ॥
Aap Roop Ameek An Ousthath[i] Aek Purakh Avdhhooth
[You] are Your Own Form, Stoic/Serious, cannot be praised
[You] are One, pervading and unattached
¹ [You] are Aatam Saroop
² Detached, unattached, stable/unmoving, pure, clean
ਗਰਬ ਗੰਜਨ ਸਰਬ ਭੰਜਨ ਆਦਿ ਰੂਪ ਅਸੂਤ³ ॥
Garab Ga[n]jan Sarab Bha[n]jan Aadh[i] Roop Asooth
The Breaker of ego, the [One] who takes everyone away,
The Original Form (who Yourself) is free from birth
³ Aadh[i] Roop = The Origin of All Forms; Sooth = birth; Asooth = without birth
ਅੰਗ ਹੀਨ⁴ ਅਭੰਗ ਅਨਾਤਮ⁵ ਏਕ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
A[n]g Heen Abha[n]g Anaatham Aek Purakh Apaar
Without body, Indestructible, [and] who is Unmanifested;
[You] are One, Pervading, and Endless
⁴ or, does not have limbs like those who take on the form of bodies
⁵ Sanskrit = Anaathmay, meaning: An+Aatmaneekaa = Who is not swaarthee meaning who does not have a mind
ਸਰਬ ਲਾਇਕ⁶ ਸਰਬ ਘਾਇਕ ਸਰਬ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਰ ॥੮੫॥
Sarab Laaeik Sarab Ghaaeik Sarab Ko Prathipaar
The [One] who gives life to all, destroys all (and) sustains/nourishes all
⁶ Hindi, Laayak = Giver; being connected (Arabic, Laayak = Worthy, Decent, Wise)
ਸਰਬ ਗੰਤਾ¹ ਸਰਬ ਹੰਤਾ ਸਰਬ ਤੇ ਅਨਭੇਖ ॥
Sarab Ga[n]thaa Sarab Ha[n]thaa Sarab Thae Anbhaekh
The [One] with all the Spiritual States, the Killer of all, 
who has a Form different from all
¹ Gamlee = [You are] the [One] who experiences Spiritual States
ਸਰਬ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਨ ਜਾਨਹੀ ਜਿਹ ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗ ਅਰੁ ਰੇਖ ॥
Sarab Saasthr n Jaanahee Jih Roop Ra[n]g Ar[u] Raekh
All of the Religious texts don’t know about Your Face, Colour, and Signs
ਪਰਮ ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਜਾਕਹਿ ਨੇਤ ਭਾਖਤ ਨਿੱਤ² ॥
Param Baedh Puraan Jaakah[i] Naeth Bhaakhath Nith
All of the Complete Vedas and Puraans always refer to [You] 
as “not this, not that [search Neti, Neti]
² A) Vedas and Puraans which are said to be endless, said to be the largest and always existing
ਕੋਟਿ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਨ ਆਵਹੀ ਵਹੁ ਚਿਤਿ³ ॥੮੬॥
Kot[i] Si[n]mrith[i] Puraan Saasthr n Aavahee Vah[u] Chith[i]
[You] do not come to the [understanding of the] mind 
through the writings of [even] millions of Smritis, Puraans, and Shaastrs.
³ meaning: cannot be limited to the mind; this is because [You] are without an End, the mind is within the limits of the land and time [environments that limit perspective]
