Now, Guru Maharaj tell us the Fruit of Following and Accepting:

ਮੰਨੈ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਮਨਿ ਬੁਧਿ ॥

Ma[n]nai Surath[i] Hovai Man[i] Budhh[i] -Padh Arthh (word-by-word):
ਮੰਨੈ (Ma[n]nai) = Through accepting and following, believing
ਸੁਰਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ (Surath[i] Hovai) = Concentration/Focus on Vaheguru is attained, Loving Devotion is attained, one becomes Spiritually Wise
ਮਨਿ (Man[i]) = Within the mind (where determination and doubts are processed in mental faculties)
ਬੁਧਿ (Budhh[i]) = Within the budhhi (the decision making mental faculty)

Mannan (to accept and follow) can be referred to as ‘Mannai’. From accepting and following Guru Sahib’s Teachings, the mind can concentrate on the One Reality-Vaheguru, it develops love towards Vaheguru, and the buddhi is able to discern reality. What type of love is developed? One develops a love for contemplating about Brahm-Vaheguru. Whenever the mind develops a determination (sankalp) towards something then it always works towards Brahm-Vaheguru. Not for anything else. In the Dharam of the Saints, this type of Love is the best because it gives peace in this world and the next. It doesn’t see any other type of love as proper.

Another Interpretation: The properly sound love is when the man and budhhi perceives the Sargun Saroop of Vaheguru.

Third Interpretation: Surath can also mean having the knowledge/correct way of thinking to receive the deeper spiritual meanings of Gurbani. In common Punjabi, people say things like: ‘do you have any Surath in regards to this thing or not (almost like does your brain work or not)?’ It usually points to something that the ‘Man’ and ‘Budhhi’ would be concerned with. Our True Form which is that of Brahm-Vaheguru, one receives understanding of this. That which was mistaken is now understood.

Fourth Interpretation: By accepting and following Guru Sahib’s Teachings, the ‘Man’ and ‘Bbudhhi’ understand Reality-Vaheguru. The ‘man’s real form, that is referred to as Budhh. When someone starts to look inwards, only then can realization happen.

ਮੰਨੈ ਸਗਲ ਭਵਣ ਕੀ ਸੁਧਿ ॥
Ma[n]nai Sagal BhavaN Kee Sudhh[i]

Padh Arthh (word-by-word):

ਮੰਨੈ (Ma[n]nai) = Through accepting and following, believing
ਸਗਲ ਭਵਣ ਕੀ (Sagal BhavaN Kee) = All Places (ie Everywhere)
ਸੁਧਿ (Sudhh[i]) = Knowledge

By accepting and following Guru Sahib’s Teachings, one gains knowledge of every place... ie the 14 realms (7 Akaash and 7 Paataal). The souls which reside here, they know which karma they did to attain those places. The karma is attached to that realm. Alternatively, they could know - on which basis - that realm was created.-Another Interpretation - The 6 Shaastars are referred to as 6 houses:
ਛਿਅ ਘਰ ਛਿਅ ਗੁਰ ਛਿਅ ਉਪਦੇਸ ॥
Chhia Ghar Chhia Gur Chhia Updhaes
6 Metaphysical Houses, 6 Founders, 6 Different Teachings
(Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj in Sohila Sahib)

The philosophies of the 6 Shaastars are known to the person who accepts and follows Guru Sahib’s Teachings.

Third Interpretation: To know what is happening near by and far away, and within the hard to access information and easy to access information - this Antaryaamthaa (Antarjaamee) also happens through accepting and following Guru Sahib’s Teachings.

Fourth Interpretation: Bhavan can also mean Bhraman (meaning wandering). The wandering mind receives spiritual understanding that this world is not constant (always changing) and that the Aatmaa is All-pervading and always constant (everything is temporary and so, the mind attached to the temporary will wander).

ਮੰਨੈ ਮੁਹਿ ਚੋਟਾ ਨਾ ਖਾਇ ॥
Ma[n]nai Muh[i] Chotaa naa Khaae[i]

Padh Arthh (word-by-word):
ਮੰਨੈ (Ma[n]nai) = Through accepting and following, believing
ਮੁਹਿ (Muh[i]) = In the face
ਚੋਟਾ (Chotaa) = hit, hurt, struck
ਨਾ ਖਾਇ (naa Khaa-i) = not eat

Those who accept and follow Guru Ji’s Teachings, they will not face the beatings of the messengers of death. They will not face those punishments as a result of millions of lifeforms.-Another interpretation: If you take the ‘naa’ in this section and apply it to the ‘Muh[i]’ as in ‘Muh[i] na’ then it could be interpreted as being robbed. ‘Muhae’ means to be robbed.An example of this in Gurbani:
ਜੇ ਮੋਹਾਕਾ ਘਰੁ ਮੁਹੈ ਘਰੁ ਮੁਹਿ ਪਿਤਰੀ ਦੇਇ ॥
Jae Mohaakaa Ghar[u] Muhai Ghar[u] Muh[i] Pithree Dhae-i
If the thief steals from a house and offers the stolen goods to his ancestors...(Aasaa Di Vaar)

That person who accepts and follows Guru Ji’s Teachings, they will not be robbed nor struck. On the path after death, people are robbed. The good karma is used as currency. Some good karma can be used to buy water. They also do the same for food. They don’t give shade under the sun either. If someone doesn’t believe this then listen to Guru Sahib directly:
ਜਿਹ ਪੈਡੈ ਲੂਟੀ ਪਨਿਹਾਰੀ ॥ ਸੋ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਸੰਤਨ ਦੂਰਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
Jih Paidai Lootee Pan[i]haaree; Jo Maarag[u] Sa[n]than Dhooraaree
That path where one is looted by water carriersThat path is way from the Path of the Saints

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਹਿਆ ॥
Sath[i]gur Poorae Saach[u] Kahiaa
Our Perfect Satguru has spoken the Truth

ਨਾਮ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੀ ਮੁਕਤੇ ਬੀਥੀ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਦੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Naam Thaerae Kee Mukathae Beethhee Jam Kaa Maarag[u] Dhoor[i] Rahiaa \\Rahaao\\
Your Naam is the Way of Salvation; the Path of Death (messengers of death) becomes far away

ਜਹ ਲਾਲਚ ਜਾਗਾਤੀ ਘਾਟ ॥ ਦੂਰਿ ਰਹੀ ਉਹ ਜਨ ਤੇ ਬਾਟ ॥੨॥
Jah Laalach Jaagaathee Ghaat; Dhoor[i] Rahee Ouh Jan Thae Baat
That place where the greedy toll-collectors work; That place is far from the Slave’s Direction

ਮੰਨੈ ਜਮ ਕੈ ਸਾਥਿ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
Ma[n]nai Jam Kai Saathh[i] na Jaae[i]

Padh Arthh (word-by-word):
ਮੰਨੈ (Ma[n]nai) = Through accepting and following, believing
ਜਮ ਕੈ ਸਾਥਿ (Jam Kai Saathh[i]) = going with the messengers of death
ਨ ਜਾਇ (na Jaa-i) = not go-Those who accept and follow Guru Sahib’s Teachings, they don’t have to go to Jampur (land of the dead). Those who don’t go to Jampur (land of the dead), they go to: Surag Lok, Brahm Lok, or Baikunt.

ਐਸਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
Aisaa naam[u] nira[n]jan[u] Hoe[i]

Padh Arthh (word-by-word):
ਐਸਾ (Aisaa) = This, In this way
ਨਾਮੁ (naam[u]) = Name of Vaheguru
ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ (nira[n]jan[u]) = Nir (Negative/No/Without) + Anjan (Darkness ie away from Maya’s Illusion = able to perceive the Formless-Vaheguru)

By doing this type of Mannan (following and accepting Guru Sahib’s Teachings) and one receives this type of reward. But when exactly does this happen? When ‘naam niranjan Ho-i’... meaning: one becomes liberated from their ego and free from Maya.

ਜੇ ਕੋ ਮੰਨਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਮਨਿ ਕੋਇ ॥੧੩॥
Jae Ko Ma[n]n[i] JaaNai Man[i] Koe[i]

ਜੇ ਕੋ (Jae Ko) = Jae Koee = If someone
ਮੰਨਿ (Ma[n]n[i]) = accepts, follows
ਜਾਣੈ ਮਨਿ ਕੋਇ (JaaNai Man[i] Koe[i]) = realizes within the mind

If one follows and accepts the One then the mind will attain spiritual realization.
