An Important Request from Bhai Kahn Singh (Nabha) - the Original Author

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ
Beloved readers! After reading ‘We are not Hindu’, it will be worth knowing that the Sikh religion is different from the Hindu religion and other religions. The Sikh community is like other communities that are distinct and separate. However, it is not right to say that we are against Hindus or any other religions. We are not pointing fingers or insulting their religions. We don’t want to receive ill wishes from our own land by going against our own countrymen. Instead, it is proper to have faith in the following bachans from Guru Maharaj:
ਏਕੁ ਪਿਤਾ ਏਕਸ ਕੇ ਹਮ ਬਾਰਿਕ... ॥
Aek[u] Pithaa, Aekas Kae Ham Baarik
There is One Father - Vaheguru, we are all the children of that One Vaheguru
(Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Arjan Dev Sahib Ji in Raag Soratt[i], Ang 611)

-
ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਮੀਤੁ ਹਮ ਆਪਨ ਕੀਨਾ ਹਮ ਸਭਨਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਜਨ ॥
Sabh[u] Ko Meeth[u] Ham Aapan Keenaa, Ham Sabhnaa Kae Saajan
We have made everyone our friend, we are everyone’s dear friends
(Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Arjan Dev Sahib Ji in Raag Dhhanaasaree, Ang 671)

Please have absolute love for everyone and always the best interest for everyone.

In that country where people don’t have deep discussions and reflections about the reality of our existence, [what happens there is] political & societal issues are turned into a khichrri [TN: a type of dish where many things are mixed in together: rice, lentils] which [ends up] creating jealousy, division, and people filled with hatred. These types of situations take away the peace of this life and the afterlife. Those people don’t have the right to call themselves the children of the Supreme-Father Vaheguru. In fact, they become inhumane.

In contrast, one can become religious in their own faith while still remaining a part of one nation. A religious person can still see the problems and gains of another community as part of the problems and gains of the whole nation. The people who think like this have the right to have all the pleasures of life and receive honour among all communities.
